Old Man Jogging

Old Man Jogging

1 oldman jogging-Jan in LA

You have to marvel at a 60 year old man jogging slowly sporting a shirtless look. If Plato jogged in the streets of Ancient Greece, it’d resemble this. Jogging 2 miles south of Venice Beach, he clearly loks to be a throwback to the old hippy days.
Gone are the days Burning incense, while smoking LSD and listening to the Greatful Dead. Health is a concern now motherf**ker. So he jogs, while reminiscing about the days of Haight-Ashbury and banging free-spirited hippy broads wearing giant sunglasses.
His eyes glare at me. Why? This is actually the SECOND time I have seen this man jogging the streets of Southern Cal in a year’s time. He almost remembers me. I definitely remember him. He almost appreciates that I’ve pulled my car over to take a photo of him out of sheer fascination. (Or at least I’d like to think so.)

  • Only in Southern Cal does a senior citizen, a former hippy, jog the street shirtless with his running shoes.
  • Only in Southern California is it WARM enough to do this in the middle of WINTER.
  • Only in Southern California would you run into this man randomly TWICE, then have a picturesque moment.

This photo is an oldie but goodie.  Taken 10 years ago, it speaks to the spirit of Southern California and America. In your neck of the woods, it’d be bizarre to see a 65 year old man jogging in the middle of winter with no shirt or pants.
For me, it’s just another day in La.
